How We Maintain the Estate Through the Seasons

3 June 2026 · 3 min read

Highveld summers bring heavy afternoon rain and fast growth. From October to March our grounds team mows weekly, edges every second week and checks irrigation lines on a Monday morning before the heat sets in.

Winter is drier and slower. Mowing drops to every second week, and the focus shifts to pruning, replanting borders and repairing paving that has lifted over the wet months.

Litter collection, plaque cleaning and pathway sweeping happen daily throughout the year. These small tasks are what visitors actually notice.

Every section of the estate has a maintenance card. Work is signed off as it is completed, which gives us a record we can check when a family raises a question about a specific area.
